Vershinin and Hadi: the need to deliver humanitarian aid to all those in need in Syria without politicization or discrimination

Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and the United Nations Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria Muhannad Hadi stressed “the need to deliver humanitarian aid to all those in need in Syria without politicization or discrimination and in coordination with the Syrian government”.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “Vershinin met Hadi yesterday evening and discussed with him the current situation in Syria, emphasized the need to provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to all Syrians in need without discrimination, politicization or preconditions in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law and with coordination with The Syrian government and with respect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state”.

The Ministry added that “special attention has been given to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2585, which provides, among other things, to the establishment of a mechanism for the delivery of aid to all through of Syria from Damascus and the implementation of projects for the early reconstruction of civilian infrastructure and to mitigate the impact of illegal unilateral measures that obstruct the effective solution of urgent humanitarian tasks in Syria.
