The security services in Kuwait thwart the smuggling of the largest amount of drugs in the country’s history

Baghdad, The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the registration of the largest seizure of narcotic pills in the history of the country, amounting to 15 million lyrica tablets, and more than half a ton of raw lyrica powder, as they are packed into empty tablets by special equipment and devices used in the process of pressing the tablets.

The Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted a statement from the General Department of Relations and Security Media as saying, “First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah personally oversaw the release of the huge seizure that was in the possession of an international gang formation.”

The statement added, “The criminal security sector, represented by the General Department for Drug Control, received information indicating the existence of a gang formation that brings lyrica tablets and powder, fills them in capsules and sells them,” according to the Kuwaiti Agency.

He added, “By conducting further investigations and ensuring the validity of the information, and after obtaining legal permission, the storage den was raided and searched. Four people were seized, and 15 million lyric tablets ready for sale, in addition to half a ton of lyrica powder, special devices and equipment for pressing tablets and a huge amount.” Empty cans and capsules equipped for packaging and imported equipment for the manufacture of wines.

The statement quoted Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled as saying: “Attempts to flood the country with this scourge have become more ferocious and professional, especially in the fields of promotion and smuggling, and we must make more efforts and stand with full force to confront this danger, fight it and eliminate it in order to protect the youth of the country.”
