The President of the Republic to EU Ambassadors: Iraq is keen to develop its relations with the EU countries

Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Monday, a number of ambassadors of the European Union, the United States and Canada to Iraq.

The President of the Republic stressed during the meeting that: "Iraq is keen to develop its relations with the European Union countries, which are based on respect, mutual understanding and common interests," noting: "Iraq is looking forward to more cooperation and building bridges of communication in many vital areas."

Rashid pointed out: "The leaders and presidents we met on the sidelines of the Arab Summit Conference in Algeria and the Climate Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh affirmed their support for Iraq, and their desire for it to play a greater role at the regional and international levels, and they also expressed their happiness with the recent elections and the positive indicators that resulted in the formation of a national government.

Rashid added: The Iraqi government has an ambitious ministerial program to improve the reality of services and rebuild and rebuild the infrastructure, and there are plans to re-work and rehabilitate factories and laboratories, and to attract investors because there are promising opportunities for companies to invest in Iraq through vital projects and infrastructure development.

The President of the Republic said that "the Iraqis have the determination and will to overcome the remnants of the past and their suffering caused by wars, conflicts and violence, and set out to achieve their aspirations for a decent life."

He explained: Iraq today enjoys security and economic stability, which are suitable conditions for developing the country and providing a decent life for its people.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the German government for the German Parliament's (Bundestag) approval that what the terrorist organization ISIS committed against our Yazidi people is considered a crime of genocide, stressing that this is an important thing for us.

In turn, the ambassadors renewed their countries' support for Iraq, and extended their congratulations for its success in organizing the 25th Gulf Cup championship and winning its title, stressing: "This is evidence of the tangible development of Iraq during the past two years."

On the sidelines of the meeting, the latest political developments in the region and the world and the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war were reviewed, and the importance of securing food and energy trade was emphasized in a way that achieves food security, stability and peace.
