The Minister of Planning discusses with an Egyptian diplomat the development of bilateral relations and the continuation of joint work within the framework of the tripartite coordinating council

Baghdad, The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, received today, Tuesday, the Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister, Alaa Musa, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Walid Muhammad Ismail.

In the meeting, according to a statement by the ministry, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries in many fields, especially economic, investment and trade.

Tamim appreciated: The role of the Egyptian government and people in supporting Iraq in various fields, indicating that the current conditions that countries of the region are going through require a lot of cooperation, and the completion of all files related to the development of this cooperation .

He reviewed some of the government’s directions and the ministerial program, foremost of which is developing the economy, combating unemployment, and working hard to confront climate changes, by expanding the use of clean energy.

The minister indicated that the government seeks to develop the system of external relations, with regional neighboring countries and other countries, according to common interests, stressing the importance of working to activate the Iraqi-Egyptian-Jordanian tripartite coordination council, especially in the field of tripartite electrical interconnection, joint economic zones and infrastructure development to address the housing crisis.

For his part, Musa stressed: The Egyptian government’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Iraq in various fields, calling for the resumption of work on the outputs of the tripartite coordinating council, due to their importance in supporting the economy and development in the three countries ( Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan).

The two sides discussed preparations for the convening of the joint Iraqi-Egyptian committee, which Cairo will host in the coming months, in which the Iraqi side will be chaired by the Prime Minister, Muhammad al-Sudani.
