Syria, Russia sign memo of understanding on education

Damascus, Ministry of Education signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding with Secondary School No. 1699 of Moscow.

The articles of the memorandum, signed at the Ministry’s headquarters, include several aspects related to the development of cultural and educational activities, holding introductory events on the history of the two countries, the exchange of student delegations and the administrative and teaching frameworks.

The memo include also learning about the experience of the Russian high school and the educational models applied therein and exchanging expertise and professional knowledge.

Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Education Ministry Ghassan Sheghri signed the memo on behalf of Syria and Mikhail Popov Alexandrovich Director of Secondary School No. 1699 of Moscow on the Russian side.

Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stressed the importance of educational cooperation between the two countries in terms of exchanging expertise, student delegations, and qualifying teachers.

Alexandrovich noted that cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Education contributes to supporting learning opportunities for children in Syria, developing skills for learning the Russian language, and qualifying teachers.
