Syria, Jordan discuss role of businessmen in activating bilateral economic relations

Damascus, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Talal al-Barazi, has discussed with Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Nael Raja al-Kabariti, the relations of economic cooperation and trade exchange between Syria and Jordan, and the role of businessmen and members of chambers of commerce in developing and activating relations and opening new horizons for them to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

During the meeting at the ministry building, al-Barazi stressed Syria’s keenness to provide various forms of sponsorship and support for every activity or work that contributes to revitalizing economic and trade relations and serves the interests of the two peoples in Syria and Jordan.

He underlined the importance of continuing communication and meetings between businessmen and owners of economic activities in both countries and the establishment of economic projects and programs that would contribute to increasing trade exchange and covering the needs of the two countries’ markets for various goods, materials and national products.

He indicated that the government in Syria is constantly working to provide an investment environment that guarantees the establishment of successful investment projects that achieve mutual benefit, pointing out that there are 600 Syrian companies with Jordanian business partners.

Al-Kabariti, for his part, praised the new investment law in Syria and the existing relations with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, stressing the keenness of Jordanian businessmen to develop economic relations with Syria and their desire to establish investment projects and activate the movement of trade exchange between the two countries.

Talks during the meeting focused on the importance of facilitating the movement of people, goods and commodities between Syria and Jordan, reducing freight charges, activating the Syrian-Jordanian free zone, and giving flexibility in unloading goods.
