Madinah, The meetings of apparatuses of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), which precede the SMIIC meetings of the Board of Directors and General Assembly, kicked off today in Madinah at the King Salman International Convention Center.

Today’s events include the launch of the fourth meeting of the Standardization Management Council (SMC) at SMIIC, the second meeting of the Board of Directors’ Strategy Permanent Committee and the second meeting of the Board of Directors’ Permanent Financial Committee, which saw the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation and the delegations of Islamic member states at SMIIC.

SMIIC meetings will last for three days between October 31, 2021 and November 2, 2021 with the participation of delegations of 45 Islamic countries and several regional and international organizations. The meeting of the Board of Directors is scheduled to be held tomorrow before concluding the events with the meeting of the General Assembly on Tuesday.

It is the third time that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosts SMIIC meetings after hosting the meetings of the General Assembly and Board of Directors in 2018 and 2019 in Makkah.

SMIIC General Assembly’s approval to hold the meetings in Madinah stresses the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in enhancing joint Islamic action and cooperation in all fields.
