Damascus, Syriac Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George in Damascus held a prayer for peace in Syria.
His Holiness Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the prayer with the participation of Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East for Melkite Greek Catholic Yousef al-Absi and Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and various heads and representatives of Christian denominations in Damascus.
Cardinal Schönborn said that Syria is a holy land, and whoever comes to visit it comes as a pilgrim.
“The message that I will convey to my country’s parliament and the parliaments of the world through the International Catholic Legislators Network (ICLN) is an invitation to help Syria overcome this difficult stage,” Cardinal Schönborn said.
The prayer is part of several activities in which Cardinal Schönborn participates during his visit to Syria, as he visited various holy sites in in Maarat Sednaya on Saturday morning.
