MP For Basra: We Will Not Vote On The Food Security Law Without Achieving These Demands

Baghdad The MP of Basra Governorate, Alaa Al-Haidari, threatened not to vote on the draft food security law without achieving a set of demands necessary for his governorate.

Al-Haidari said, in a press conference today, Thursday, "There are attempts to discourage us from demanding the rights of Basra by targeting our office by an outlaw terrorist group," calling on the security authorities to intensify efforts to uncover the perpetrators.

He added, "We stand with the demonstrators in Basra and their inclusion in the budget law and the food security law, including graduates of science faculties who have been demonstrating for three years to demand appointment in addition to contracts and daily wages."

Al-Haidari stressed, "Contrary to this, we will not vote on the emergency support law or the general budget," calling for resolving the issue of petrodollars, especially after filing a complaint with the Federal Court regarding the return of that money to the province.

He explained, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was approached to summon the Kuwaiti ambassador and submit a note of protest because of the violations against Iraqi fishermen."

Al-Haidari also called on the concerned authorities to resolve the Basra project, the economic capital of Iraq, and to activate the Chinese agreement and the Silk Project, similar to the countries of the world, as well as the need to stop the so-called investment project for electrical stations by Kar Company, due to explicit legal violations.
