Minister of Islamic Affairs Receives His Indonesian Counterpart

Jeddah, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh received here today his Indonesian counterpart Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and the accompanying delegation, who is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom.

In a press statement, the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs praised the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, which he described as strong, praising the Kingdom’s efforts in spreading moderation, caring for the affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, and serving pilgrims.

He added that the preventive measures taken by the Kingdom to address the Corona pandemic and to ensure the safety of pilgrims will reflect positively on opening the door for more pilgrims in the future.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al Al-Sheikh affirmed the distinguished relations and cooperation between the two sides in Islamic affairs, spreading the concept of moderation and countering extremism, and hate speech.

“The Kingdom, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince confirms the tireless efforts to spread the principles and great values of Islam per the moderate approach,” Dr. Al-Sheikh said, noting that this comes in line with the Kingdom’s lofty message and status in the hearts of Muslims around the world.

Dr. Al Al-Sheikh reiterated that Islam is a religion of mercy, a religion of tolerance, and a religion that unites all Muslims, pointing out that the meetings with the Indonesian delegation will focus on joint work to serve the interest of the two countries in all areas of Islamic affairs.
