Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hunaifat discussed Tuesday with the Special Representative of the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Daniel Gustafson cooperation and coordination between the two sides. During the meeting, Hunaifat stressed the importance of sustainable cooperation and coordination with the organization on the top projects related to the development of the agricultural sector, especially in light of the great challenges and crises, which include pressure caused by hosting refugees, climate change, regional conflicts, border closures which reduced exports over the past decade, the Coronavirus pandemic and the supply crisis caused by the Russo-Ukrainian war. He pointed to Jordan's need to support construction projects for the agricultural sector, water harvesting solutions and expansion of the green area and fast tracking these projects, in addition to syncing these projects with the ministry's plans such as the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture. Hunaifat gave a briefing on the ministry's achievements and plans, highlighting its ability to develop many tracks that support marketing, rural communities, women, youth and food industries, as well as afforestation projects in the governorates and desert regions. He hailed the efforts and cooperation of FAO, stressing the need to speed up procedures for the implementation of ongoing projects.
