New York, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) participated here yesterday in the high-level international meeting on the dangers of the “Safer” oil tanker, which was organized by the USA, Germany and the Netherlands.

The KSrelief was represented by the Director of the Community Support Department, Dr. Hana Omar, who spoke about the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provided to Yemen, which exceeded $20 billion to support the Yemeni humanitarian, development, energy, and economy sectors.

Dr. Hana Omar stressed that the Kingdom is committed to its pledge to provide $10 million to contribute to the rescue plan of the Safer tanker, in addition to its support for the previous international plan in 2018, urging the UN and the international community to ensure a sustainable solution to this potential environmental disaster, and to prevent any violations from the Houthi militia side that may hinder the implementation of the UN plan, as happened in the previous one.

The meeting aims to discuss the potential risks of the Safer tanker and the UN plan to unload and maintain it, and joint coordination to mobilize international efforts to cover the funding gap of the UN plan.
