Iraq delivers a shipment of archives to the State of Kuwait

Baghdad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, headed the Iraqi delegation participating in the process of delivering a new shipment of archives and property belonging to the brotherly State of Kuwait, amounting to 738 boxes, including documents, books, films, manuscripts, a historical sword and two copies of the Holy Quran.

The handover ceremony took place today, at the headquarters of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, in the presence of the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab World Affairs Nasser Al-Qahtani, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Resident Coordinator in the State of Kuwait, Tariq Al-Sheikh, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Kuwait, Mr. Al-Manhal Al-Safi.

The Undersecretary affirmed the Iraqi government’s keenness and commitment to ending this file, indicating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sought, in cooperation with other Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to return a number of Kuwaiti property and archives according to campaigns it carried out in previous years, the last of which was during (August 2019, August November 2019 and March 2021).

For his part, the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab World Affairs, Nasser Al-Qahtani, expressed his appreciation for the Iraqi efforts to continue handing over the archives belonging to the State of Kuwait, praising the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator in the State of Kuwait, Tariq Al-Sheikh, also valued the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, and the efforts made in this framework.
