Editor-in-Chief of the Jordanian Al-Ghad newspaper: These are the challenges of the Arab media, and joint cooperation is necessary to educate citizens

Baghdad, The editor-in-chief of the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad, Makram Ahmed Al-Tarawneh, a member of the high-level Jordanian media delegation, who is visiting the capital, Baghdad, at the official invitation of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, stressed the importance of joint cooperation to educate societies about the challenges facing the media in the Arab world and the region.

Tarawneh said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): "The visit of the Jordanian media delegation to Baghdad includes a busy agenda for meeting a group of Iraqi leaders to listen to their views and evaluate the bilateral relations politically, economically and socially, and what can be built and strengthened in these relations."

He pointed out: "The media side in the Arab world and other countries as a whole faces a set of serious challenges that require dealing with them in a way that guarantees the protection of the security and safety of societies, as we find today what is called alternative media, which poses a threat to the security of these countries."

He added, "The most prominent challenges for the Arab media are social networking sites, digital space, and what is known as citizen journalism, therefore we are facing today an open space to promote rumors and misleading news, which constitutes complete chaos," noting that: "We must cooperate together to implement the rule of law and establish the importance of the role of the media and the state to educate . He added "Citizens are aware of these risks, and ensuring that they receive information from its correct sources will limit the spread of this chaos.

Tarawneh stressed that "providing tools tops the priority of important issues for the work of media institutions that need today to keep pace with technological development and information technologies, develop the capabilities of their press staff, and provide media institutions with young cadres who graduated from digital media academies, because they can address the audience of social communication, reach them and influence them correctly and properly.”
