Amiri order to accept the resignation of the Kuwaiti government

Baghdad, An Amiri order was issued in Kuwait to accept the government's resignation.

According to Kuwait News Agency "KUNA", an Amiri order was issued today, Thursday, to accept the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the Ministers, and to assign each of them the urgent management of the affairs of his position.

It is noteworthy that the Kuwaiti government submitted its resignation last Monday, following disagreements with the National Assembly.

Kuwaiti media said, "The government submitted today its resignation to the political leadership, in the wake of the recent crisis with the National Assembly over the background of "populist" laws, as well as the two interrogations directed at Finance Minister Abdul Wahhab Al-Rashid and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barak Al-Shitan.

Kuwaiti news websites stated that the government's resignation "last Monday" comes while it adhered to its position regarding the recent political crisis, as it refused to make any pledges to the representatives regarding these laws.

The crisis between the executive and legislative authorities in Kuwait began on January 10, after the government withdrew from a parliamentary session, after a dispute over its refusal to approve “financial burdens” related to the crisis of “dropping citizens’ loans.”

On January 19, the National Assembly stated in a statement that the Economic Committee discussed the government's response to the draft loan purchase law, and demanded that the government make pledges to withdraw the bill, including increasing social assistance, salaries and pensions.
