Al-Faisal Heads the 11th Meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation

Konya, Turkiye, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), chaired the meeting of the eleventh general assembly of the ISSF, held today in this Turkish city of Konya, in the attendence of Prince Fahd bin Juluwe bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Head of the Saudi Mission taking part in the event; Adwa Al-Oreifi, Member of the Saudi Olympic and Paralymptics Committee and Deputy President of the Saudi Mision; Dr. Mohamet Muharram Kassab Uglu; Tareq Bakhit, Representative of OIC Secretary General as well as heads of delegations and members of the assembly.

In an inaugural address, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal thanked the Saudi prudent leadership for the unlimited support extended to the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation's programs and activities since its inception in 1980 up to date to proceed with achieving the federation's objectives and message, noting that this tournament embodies the noble goals of the federation which focuses on consolidating the principles of non-discrimination among religions, races or colors, tightening the ties of sports principles and working to develop the sports and olympic movement in the Islamic world countries.

He disclosed that the federation has recently formed several specialized committees to upgrade the level of the federation aiming to reach a distinctive status at the Islamic and international levels.

He called for convening an extraordinary general assembly in the last quarter of this year to adopt a new road map, casting his nomination for a new presidential term.

He extended thanks to the Republic of Turkiye, represented by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan; and Dr. Mohamet Uglu for warm welcome and generous hospitality and hosting the current important Islamic games tournament.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal's appreciation also went to all personnel in the local and international committeess and the steering committee as well as the coordination and follow-up committee for their efforts over the last four years.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the President and the Turkish Sports Minister as well as Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan and Konya Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay co-signed the protocol of Konya as capital of Islamic world 2022.
