Riyadh, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense, has had talks in Riyadh with Yemen’s Prime Minister Dr. Mueen Abdulmalik Saeed.
During the meeting, which took place yesterday, efforts and initiatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aiming to achieve security, stability and peace in the sisterly Republic of Yemen were reviewed and potentials and aspects of cooperation between the two countries discussed.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defense confirmed that the deep-rooted fraternal ties binding the governments and peoples of the two countries of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen are the bases upon which all the Kingdom’s initiatives and positions towards this beloved neighboring country are emanating.
For his part, the Yemeni Prime Minister extended thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince for the care they bestow for Yemen and the Yemenis, lauding the past and current assistance being offered to Yemen by the Kingdom through the Saudi Program for the Development and Rehabilitation of Yemen, citing developmental projects aiming to ameliorate the state of living of Yemeni citizens.
During the meeting, the Yemeni Prime Minister briefed the Saudi Deputy Defense Minister on the current political, military, security, economic and service scenarios, including the efforts being exerted by the Yemeni government since its formation and assuming office from its provisional capital of Aden, citing its efforts to deal with the existing challenges, particularly the economic and security aspects.
Dr. Mueen Abdulmalik lauded the recently-announced grant of oil derivatives for the sector of electricity in the liberated governorates extended by the Saudi Program for the Development and Rehabilitation of Yemen, citing their positive impact on all governorates.
During the talks, the Saudi Deputy Defense Minister and the Yemeni Prime Minister underscored the importance of the initiative submitted by the Kingdom to bring about peace in Yemen.
They also cited the need that the world community should undertake its responsibilities and play its roles to mount pressure on the Houthis to avail themselves of this opportunity and not miss the chance of ending the crisis.
The two sides underscored the importance of proceeding with fulfilling the execution of Riyadh agreement and building on the positive aspects which have been achieved over the past period and solve any differences through dialogue.
The meeting was attended by the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, and the Director General of the office of the Deputy Minister of Defense Husham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
