Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, received the delegation of the consultative gathering, which included MPs Abud Rahim Mrad, Faisal Karameh, Al-Walid Sukkarieh and Adnan Trabulsi, in the presence of PM’s advisor, Khodor Taleb.

After the meeting, MP Karami said, “We discussed with PM Diab the bad conditions that the country is going through at all economic, developmental and living conditions’ levels, which undoubtedly have security repercussions. The time has come for us to be frank with people about two things: The first is that there is no formation of a new government in the foreseeable future. After 2005, internal, sectarian and factional differences delayed the formation of the government for several months; but today the international factor plays a role in forming governments. Several countries are currently intervening in the selection of ministers for the Ministries of Finance and Energy; other countries are seeking to exclude half of the Lebanese from being represented in the government. Thus, no government formation looms in the horizon, as if officials do not sense the worsening economic crisis that the country and its people are going through.

Today, the dollar exchange rate has reached 8000 LBP. Unfortunately, things will get worse if we do not adopt a wise and serious management strategy.

As for the second matter, no funds will be channeled to Lebanon for two reasons: the first is political and dictated by an international decision, and the other reason is the absence of forensic audit aimed at revealing spending areas and the failure to pass the "Capital Control" law to reassure donor countries. Many arguments are being made regarding the forensic audit; some say that it is in contradiction with the Constitution and the Law. Therefore, we have informed Premier Diab that, as a consultative gathering, we will present an accelerated double urgency bill, featuring one article, in order to exclude some legal articles to facilitate the forensic audit.
