AOUN OFFERS CONDOLENCES TO PRESIDENT OF PHILIPPINES OVER AMBASSADOR CATALLA’S DEATH WITH COVID

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, on Friday cabled condolences to his Philippines’ counterpart,  Rodrigo Duterte,  over the death of Philippines’ Ambassador to Lebanon, Bernardita Catalla, with Covid-19.

In his cable, President Aoun said, “It is with great sadness that I received the news of the death of Ambassador Bernardita Catalla in painful circumstances, after she had endeavored for many years to strengthen friendship relations between our two countries in various fields.’

Aoun also hailed the merits of the deceased diplomat and her work during her term of office in Lebanon to enhance relations between the two countries.

The Philippines’ top diplomat to Lebanon has succumbed to complications from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Thursday.
