Finance and Budget Committee head, "Strong Lebanon" Parliamentary bloc Secretary, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, on Monday said in the wake of the budget ratification session that endorsing the available budget was "a way better option than not endorsing any budget at all."

"What is required now is a rescue plan to be drafted by the new government," he added, expressing the parliament's will to cooperate with the cabinet to salvage the country.

He also pushed opposition to cooperate with the government to help rescue the nation. "The budget is an important step that must be followed by many others," Kanaan added.

He disclosed that the House of Parliament had approved the amount of LBP 25 billion, allocated by the Finance and Budget Committee, to consecrate civil defense members as full timers, provided that the remaining amount would secured from reserves.

Kanaan finally stressed the paramount importance of steering the financial and economic dossiers clear from conflicts and political polarizations.
