"We salute the uprising of peaceful and civilized young men and women in all Lebanese regions, and express our solidarity with them, and appreciate their sacrifices and efforts because they wish to turn a black page of our national life and write a new history with their loyalty to Lebanon, its land, its entity, its constitutional institutions, its culture and its mission," Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi said during Sunday Mass service in Bkirki.

He deemed that the "youth are the nation's wealth, present and future and that new leaders must come out of their ranks according to the needs of the country."

Commenting on the formation of the new government, Rahi indicated that the government should be given "an opportunity and support."

He also urged the new government to "restore confidence and declare its solidarity with the Lebanese people and our youth in their needs."
