Dr. Al-Awwad stressed the Kingdom's concern with combating terrorism, considering terrorism as one of the most prominent violations of human rights. The Kingdom has issued the Law of Combating Terrorist Crimes and its Financing and its Implementing Regulations as strict measures to confront and punish the perpetrators of terrorist crimes. It has also fought extremism and fanaticism by establishing and launching a number of centers and projects, including the Tebyan project, which aims to spread the values of moderation and tolerance, and reject extremism. Similarly, the Intellectual Warfare Center undertakes the task of confronting the roots of extremism and terrorism. The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) is mainly concerned with detecting and analyzing extreme thought in order to provide suitable means to confront and prevent it, in collaboration with relevant countries and organizations.

The HRC President also added: The Kingdom has placed the issue of anti-corruption on the top of its priorities, as a Royal Order was issued to form a supreme committee to combat and eliminate corruption, given its negative effects on human rights protection and on development.

The meeting also discussed ways to develop cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Union in social and humanitarian fields.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Saudi Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Saad Bin Muhammad Al-Arifi.
