House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday welcomed at his Ain El Tineh residence the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, with whom he discussed preparations underway for the International Support Group for Lebanon's meeting in Paris tomorrow.

Speaker Berri stressed that the parliament has almost completed the 2020 state budget, in preparation for its approval before the end of the year.

Kubis, for his part, welcomed this step, promising to report it to the participants at the conference in Paris.

The Speaker also raised with Kubis the issue of the recent Israeli aggression on the Lebanese territorial waters, as an Israeli ship carried out a survey operation, contrary to international law within the scope of block 9.

On the other hand, Berri met with the newly accredited Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon, Yaaser Alawi, in the presence of the Embassy's Advisor Mohammed Mosleh.

Talks reportedly touched on the latest political development and the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Egypt.

On emerging, Ambassador Alawi hoped that the designation of a new Prime Minister and the formation of a cabinet would take place as soon as possible, saying such a matter is a national, regional and international need.

Berri then met with a delegation of the Free Professions' Syndicates' deans, with who he discussed an array of syndical affairs and demands.
