The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on Tuesday a joint meeting between Lebanon and the European Union on human rights, democracy, democratic governance, security and justice.

The meeting was chaired by the Ministry's Secretary General Ambassador Chmaytelli on the Lebanese side, and the Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Ambassador Colin Scicluna representing the European side.

Talks reportedly featured high on affairs of common interest, in addition to an array of regional and international developments, including the political situation in Lebanon.

Conferees mainly focused on the security challenges and the fight of terrorism, as well as on the bilateral cooperation between Lebanon and the EU in the fields of human rights, democracy, law sovereignty, and the combat against corruption.

It is to note that the meetings will last for two days, with recommendations to be issued as they wind up.
