The Embassy of Kuwait in Lebanon issued on Thursday the following statement:
"In response to what was published by the Lebanese newspaper 'Ad-Diyar' on September 26, 2018, under the title 'Kuwaiti criticisms of Saudi Arabia over Yemeni file', and in order to state the obvious facts, facing the allegations of some media institutions that do not rise to the desired level of responsible journalism and credibility, the Embassy of Kuwait in Lebanon would like to emphasize that what was reported in the newspaper is completely groundless, and in no way reflect the truth."
"In this context, it is necessary to clarify the following points:
Firstly, the State of Kuwait is a founding member of the Arab Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen, which was established upon the request of the legitimate Yemeni government. Therefore, the position of the State of Kuwait towards the Yemeni file is consistent and fully in line with the position of the Arab coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen; A position that is based on the three references, the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue, and the relevant international resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution 2216," the statement read.
"Secondly, with regard to the incorrect and untrue statements attributed to the Head of Mission of the State of Kuwait in Brussels, it is necessary to clarify that the last meeting of Heads of Missions of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Brussels was in March 2017. Therefore, the information attributed to on one of the sources concerning the alleged quarrel between the heads of the Kuwaiti and Saudi missions in Brussels on September 13, 2018, is completely groundless and has sure never happened, especially since both the Kuwaiti and Saudi missions are constantly coordinating from a brotherly point of view over an array of topics and files including the Yemeni issue."
The statement concluded: "The strong and deeply rooted relations between the two brotherly countries are a clear and indisputable fact. These relations are strong and rooted in history, mixed with blood and preserved with conviction and faith in common destiny."
