BAGHDAD, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country would discuss "important" issues with the new Iraqi government.

"The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will have a training program for the Iraqi security forces, and Turkey will take an active role," Cavusoglu said in a press statement.

He stressed that "Turkey will take with Iraq joint steps for the clearance of Iraqi territory from the spread of the (PKK), after the formation of a new government in Iraq."

He noted that "Turkey is making efforts to establish the best relations with Iraq."

"After the formation of the new Iraqi government, the two countries will take steps in the commercial field, where there will be the opening of the border crossing (Khabur) with Iraq."

He added that they "started their work for the reopening of the Turkish consulates in Basra and Mosul,"
