Lebanese Forces party leader, Samir Geagea, has rejected statements that describe his party's friendly relations with Saudi Arabia as a broad door for Saudi Arabian politics to enter the Lebanese scene.
In an interview with the German Media Agency (DPA), the LF leader stressed the need for the return of Syrian refugees to Syria, as Lebanon is unable to shoulder this burden.
"We represent our party in the government and are committed to the interests of Lebanon," he said.
According to him, the party's share in the next government will be that of the Lebanese Forces, not Saudi Arabia or any other country.
"We are friends with the kingdom but our actions on the Lebanese scene are a separate issue," he said.
According to his remarks, the accusations against Saudi Arabia of intervening in Lebanese affairs were without proof.
He affirmed that the "Lebanese Forces are always attached to their demands concerning the representation in the government which must be in harmony with the size of their representation in the Parliament."
He refused, however, to announced the key portfolios claimed by his party, or the number of sovereign portfolios for that matter.
Geagea said his party will make little concessions on the principle of state sovereignty and its strategic decision, noting that fears of Hezbollah's involvement in a possible conflict between Iran and Israel reinforce the calls for the application of the above principles.
On another level, he announced that his party will make an appeal for the invalidation of the naturalization decree.
He finally said that the return of Syrian refugees requires a Lebanese sovereign decision, in coordination with the refugees and international bodies concerned by this return, noting that any coordination with the Syrian regime will hinder the return of these refugees.
