BAGHDAD Turkish Defense Minister Noureddine Janikli announced that his forces and US forces will conduct patrols in the Syrian city of Manbeg.

"The roadmap for the city of Manbeg will be implemented as soon as possible," Janikli told reporters after a meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Brussels.

The Manbeg military council said it would not accept any deployment of the Turkish army in the northern city of Syria.

A council Spokesman said on Wednesday that the military council would not accept it.

In a previous statement, the Munbeg military council said it had no knowledge of the details of the Turkish-American roadmap on Manbeg, which was announced last Monday, but said it was capable of "keeping the security of Munbeg and its borders against any external threats."
