Caretaker Information Minister, Melhem Riachy, said that he had exerted relentless efforts during his term of office in a bid to thrash out journalist-related problems, especially to provide them with union immunity, a retirement salary, a mutual fund, and better working conditions; however, the Minister regretted that all the projects that he had worked on to improve and modernize the status of the MoI remained pending at the secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

"Unfortunately, all the projects of the Ministry of Information, which involve modernizing its administration and its departments, are currently on hold at the secretariat of the Council of Ministers," he said, hoping that his successor can continue the institutionalization of the ministry and its transformation into that of communication and dialogue.

Riachy's words came yesterday, Wednesday, at the signature ceremony of a new book by the director of the Lebanese University's Faculty of Information, Dr. Hani Safi, at the Saint-Elie convent, Antelias. It is to note that Riachy was representing Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea.

For his part, Dr. Safi thanked all those who made the publication of his book possible - a collection of articles written for Radio Lebanon between 2011 and 2015.
