Lebanon's First Lady Nadia Chami Aoun on Wednesday inaugurated the "Gardens Fair and Spring Festival" in its 15th edition at the Hippodrome in Beirut.
The Fair entitled "Voices in the Garden" is held in partnership with the Municipality of Beirut.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by MP Hagop Pakradounian, Beirut Governor Judge Ziad Chbib, Agriculture Ministry Director General Louis Lahoud, Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon Alex Lenaerts, Beirut municipal council members and scores of syndical and concerned dignitaries.
The proceeds of the first day of the festival goes to philanthropic and charity associations, in light of the humanitarian spirit marking this year's event that combines the importance of preserving green spaces and love for giving.
MP Hagop Terzian and Governor Chbib presented a shield to Mrs Aoun as a token of recognition for her constant support for environmental activities.
First Lady Mrs. Aoun then toured the various Fair pavilions, which includes special stands for the Lebanese reserves, such as the reserve of Mount Moussa, Bentaal and Arz Chouf and Tannourine.
More than 220 exhibitors showcase at the Fair a variety of plants, flowers, furniture for outdoor spaces, accessories and various equipment for gardens and orchards.
The exhibition also includes workshops and specialized classes by experts in agriculture, as well as a conference on green spaces and natural sounds.
More than 60 associations and specialists in ecotourism, guesthouses and hotels also partake in said Fair under a special podium entitled "Travel Lebanon.
