Head of the Episcopal media committee, Maronite bishop of Beirut, Boulos Matar, hosted a dinner banquet on Monday in honor of journalists, on the occasion of the 52nd World Day of Social Communications, in the presence of Minister of Information, Melhem Riachy and the Vatican Embassy's Charge d'Affaires, Ivan Santos.

Bishop Matar hailed Minister Riachy, noting that Lebanon was proud of such intercommunal figures.

Matar stressed that Lebanon would move further if dialogue among the Lebanese was based on truth, love and candor.

Minister Riachy thanked Mgr. Matar for his words, praising the role he plays in the construction of bridges and the demolition of walls.

"In the past, it was said that we refused hunger, ignorance and gendarmes. At present, we say that we reject hunger and ignorance, while focusing on the Lebanese gendarmes," Riachy said in his address.

Noting that the dinner coincided with the end of the mandate of the current government, the minister wished the next government the best of luck, hoping that it would build on what has been achieved so as to build a better Republic and State.
