Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, received on Wednesday at his Yarzeh office US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard, and British Ambassador, Hugo Shorter, with talks reportedly touching on the general situation and bilateral ties between the Lebanese Army and both US and British Armies.

Afterwards, General Aoun chaired the meeting of the Land Borders Aid Program High Level Steering Committee in the presence of Ambassadors Richard and Shorter, in addition to members of joint work team.

The meeting covered the aids already provided by the US and UK during the previous stages and the next steps to be undertaken to meet the needs of the army units assigned to control the eastern and northern borders.

General Aoun thanked the US and UK authorities for the qualitative military support to the army, highly appreciating their keenness to continue this support, to face up to the various challenges, especially terrorists' attempts to penetrate into Lebanon to tamper with its security and stability.

In their turns, Ambassadors Richard and Shorter commended the extraordinary efforts of the Lebanese Army, stressing that the US and UK authorities will continue to strengthen the capabilities of the army and support its efforts to defend Lebanon and maintain its stability and territorial integrity.
