BAGHDAD, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said that it is our duty to secure a decent life for teachers and grant them their rights and end their suffering."

"The state believes in free education and we are determined to give the teacher the rights and prestige that he deserves," he said during a meeting with a large number of teachers and educators, in the presence of Chairman and members of the Teachers Syndicate.

He added, according to a statement by his media office, that Iraq has risen and turned the break-up to a major victory achieved under difficult and harsh economic conditions."

"We were four years ago on the verge of loss, and Iraq has seen emigration, but many have started to return after improved conditions and victories, and the Iraqis can overcome all the difficulties facing the education sector."

During the meeting, they discussed the educational reality and the decisions concerning the rights of the teachers and their needs for the residential lands and the setting up of school buildings and educational facilities in the different governorates.
