Baghdad, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi opened the pumping station ps1 of the irrigation channel project of Shatt al-Arab in the area of Ketaban in Basra province.

"The opening of this project and the irrigation station is an evidence of the strength of the will of the people of Iraq, despite the attempts of terrorism to stop the wheel of life and reconstruction, which failed and the Iraqis eventually won," Al-Abadi said at the opening ceremony.

He continued that the government's interest in Basra and ending its suffering in the forefront of priorities and we will continue actively to establish urban and service projects, and commended the efforts of workers to complete this project."

For his part, Minister of Water Resources Hassan al-Janabi said in a welcoming speech that the channel is important for the people of Basra, which will restore life to agricultural areas and palms and prevent the migration of farmers and citizens to provide them with water and land reclamation.
