BAGHDAD, Iraq is now at a crossroads and the international community has renewed its commitment to it at the International Reconstruction Conference in Kuwait, the Japanese ambassador said.

The Japanese ambassador said during the signing ceremony of the Japanese loan with the Ministry of Finance in Baghdad on Thursday morning: The two new projects were signed - the Basra Water Project and the Irrigation Loan Project - are important because they aim to rehabilitate the basic infrastructure of social and economic life, which are drinking water and agriculture.

He noted that the ceremony comes after the conclusion of the mutual memoranda of the two projects between the governments of Japan and Iraq in Tokyo on the occasion of the visit of Prime Minister Haider Abadi to Japan, expressed his pleasure at the signing ceremony of the loan agreements for a short period not exceeding one month after signing in Tokyo.

He said, "I look forward to the Iraqi people making the right choice at the polls next week."
