Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdullatif Derian on Wednesday upped calls upon the Lebanese to massively participate in the forthcoming legislative elections, deeming the poll process as a "national" and "religious" responsibility.

Accordingly, Derian ordered the General Directorate of the Islamic Waqf to direct the Imams of Lebanon's mosques to devote Friday's sermon to calling the Lebanese for a huge turnout in the polls, and for voting for those "preserving Lebanon and its Arabism."
