BAGHDAD Germany has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Iraq to repatriate Iraqi refugees who are obliged to leave, German Development Minister Gerd Muller said on Monday.

The German DW website quoted Muller as saying that Berlin's goal is to support 10,000 Iraqis to create opportunities in their country by providing jobs and training places inside Iraq.

The German Minister also agreed with the Iraqi side to open the centers for providing advice to the returnees.

Muller stressed Berlin's desire to provide Iraqis with a voluntary return rather than as "losers." For this reason, local training and employment opportunities are being provided in cooperation with the Iraqi authorities and the economic community.

According to data from the German Development Ministry, about 12,000 Iraqis out of a total of 240,000 Iraqis in Germany are obliged to leave.
