BAGHDAD, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi met with US Special Envoy Donald Trump on Monday, insisting on uniting Iraqis toward the goal of reconstruction and stability.
The press office of the Prime Minister said in a press statement that Al-Abadi received the Special Envoy of the President of the United States Bret McCork, the official of Iraq and Iran file in the State Department of the United States of America Andrew Beck and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Douglas Suleiman.
He added that during the meeting, they discussed relations between the two countries and the political, security and economic developments, the stage of construction and reconstruction in Iraq, the situation in the region and the elimination of the remaining Daesh terrorist gang cells.
Al-Abadi stressed, according to the statement "Iraq's insistence on the success of the unification of Iraqis towards the goal of reconstruction and provide a climate conducive to investment."
He pointed to the importance of regional stability, preventing the causes of tension and focusing on ending terrorism.
"The United States believes that Iraq is now moving in the right direction," McCork said, stressing his country's support for Iraq in the reconstruction and construction phase and the strengthening of security.
He also expressed the support of the United States and its support for Iraq's position on the need to end the remaining cells in Syria and fortify the Iraqi border from attempts to penetrate by terrorists.
