It was an opportunity to listen to his assessment of the internal situation and his analysis of local and regional developments in the upcoming stage, the Chinese diplomat said in the wake of the meeting, thanking Gemayel for his contribution strengthening relations between Lebanon and China.

On China’s stance on developments in Syria, the Chinese Ambassador said, “We are against the use of force in international relations, and we consider that the military aggression against a sovereign state without the authorization of the United Nations and the Security Council is an act that contradicts with the international law and the United Nations charter. We call for a political solution to the Syrian crisis and call on all parties to abide by the international law and the UN Charter, and to resort to peaceful means and negotiations in dealing with the Syrian crisis.
